About Galena

Galena is a small town in northwest Illinois known for its well-preserved 19th-century buildings like the 1826 Dowling House. The Italianate Ulysses S. Grant Home was a gift from local citizens to the Civil War general who later became a U.S. president. Horseshoe Mound, on the outskirts of Galena, offers views of three states. Other mounds, thought to be ancient ceremonial sites, can be seen at Casper Bluff.

Built in 1856, the Alice Snyder’s House has the charm of a bygone era and was featured on the 2016 Tour of Galena Historic Homes.  The Snyder House was also awarded The Jo Mead Historic Preservation Award by The Galena Cutural Arts Alliance in 2016.

Decorated with many antique treasures there are three bedrooms for you to select from and each has its own unique personality. Bedrooms have smart TVs with access to Netflix and the property has WiFi access.  Relax in the parlor, dining room or on the front porch after your day of adventures in Historic Galena.

Located in a residental neighborhood, we are 2 blocks from Main Street and close to attractions like Grant’s Home.
